Located Near Historic Downtown Gainesville

Much like her namesake Queen Elizabeth, Miss Elizabeth was the life of the party, a fan of dancing and the finer things in life. We can’t think of a better way to honor her legacy than to encourage others to enjoy the same fun and energy that was her calling card. It is so fitting then that The Elizabeth puts you right in the heart of one of Gainesville’s most exciting and entertaining districts.

Situated just north of Downtown, The Elizabeth is a short distance from some of the city’s biggest draws and rich historic culture. Highlights like the Curia on the Drag and the Swamp Head Brewery harken back to the bustling nightlife of Gainesville, and Gateway Park and the farmer’s market showcase some of the best that local growers, artisans, and craftsmen have shared for hundreds of years.

The Elizabeth: A Tribute to a Gainesville Original

One of Gainesville’s longest-running property owners, Miss Elizabeth wasn’t just a building manager. She was a community builder, known for her grace and hospitality to all manner of Gainesville’s inhabitants. After owning the building for over 35 years, she had become an institution of the local community, an eternally friendly face, and a steward of Gainesville history.

When Align finally purchased the building from her in 2021, she was a youthful 82 years old and still managing the day-to-day operations. More impressive to us, she still knew the names and families of every resident in the building, how long they’d been with her, and what made them such a value to her community. A spectacular woman, we felt that there was no better tribute than to keep her name attached to the building that she loved and cared for so much.
